Guava Technologies appoints advisory board member

Hayward's Guava Technologies Inc. has appointed John C. Reed to its scientific advisory board.
Reed is president and CEO of La Jolla-based Burnham Institute.
Reed joined Burnham Institute in 1992. He founded the Institute's program on apoptosis and cell death research and directed it until 2000. He also was the scientific dierector from 1995 to 2001.
Before joining Burnham, Reed was assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and director of the Laboratory for Molecular Diagnosis at the University of Pennsylvania hospital from 1989 to 1992. Reed also holds adjunct professorships at the UC-San Diego and San Diego State University.
Founded in 1998, Guava Technologies is a biotechnology company whose core technologies are in cell-based research and drug discovery.
